Computers  were  always a passion. When I was in high school, I took software classes, but then ended up going to the military. When I got out, I'd freelance, but was never able to land a real job. I have back injuries, so after several years of working manual labor, I had enough. I could have gone back to school, but I have a family and a son. I couldn't afford to go back and still provide and support, so I didn't think it was possible.

Lambda popped up in my feed and it said I wouldn't have to pay anything upfront. It sounded too good to be true, but I applied anyway. I started the following month. I felt like I would do whatever it took to get through the seven months to Lambda. I did DoorDash Delivery and Uber. I was working nights and working all day at school. It definitely paid off.

Previously I was making $18 an hour with no overtime. Then my first developer job, I was making $3,000 a month. Now it’s six figures. We have all Fortune 100 contracts... big-name companies, big projects. It's like I'm in the big leagues already.

"I was raised by a single mom. She has MS and lupus. She used to tell me I needed to go for my dreams and to stop putting it off. I felt like I needed to succeed for my mom. I succeeded for myself, but I've made her proud.”
