My name is Megan Jones. I'm an engineer at Slalom. I finished Lambda School in December of 2019. I was an English major in college and I was like, 'I'm going to be an English professor.' So I went to grad school and I got my master's degree in literature. And I hated it a lot. So I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do with my life.

One thing I've always loved is solving puzzles and finding ways to tinker with things. So I figured that maybe coding would be something I'd want to do. So I started teaching myself a little bit here and there. I was working online as an English as a second language teacher. And I was teaching myself to code when students didn't show up to class. Then I started seeing all of the Lambda School ads.

I guess I first realized that I wanted to go because the ISA made sense to me. With what I was making as an English teacher, minus the 17% ISA, I would still be making more than that. Lambda made it possible for me to switch and so dramatically change career paths. It gave me the knowledge and the credibility that I needed in order to get my foot in the door.
